Paris-Paris (Le Clan des Siciliens)
Huitième épisode: Paris. On a tous des anecdotes de la politique à Paris. Celle de Pif, c’est Goasguen qui croise un SDF qui mendie et dit «moi j’aurais honte à sa place». La mienne, c’est un dessin de Cabu en 1993: «Mitterrand, pire que seul: seul avec Georges Sarre».
Tout est connu de l’histoire politique récente de Paris, qui se lit comme le mémorial du chiraquisme, au confluent du gaullisme pur et dur (Bénouville, Jean de Gaulle), de la mafia corse (Tibéri, Dominati, Cabana) et de l’hardi attrape-tout (du libéralisme antifiscal de Benoîte Taffin, Chinaud, Taittinger et Goasguen à «l’humanisme» de Devaquet et peut-être Borloo), en passant par les amis à caser (Balladur, Juppé, et prochainement Colonna et Lamour). Plus intéressant, la géopolitique est-ouest si caractéristique, un temps gommée par les «grands chelems» (et le bourrage d’urnes) de la droite, remonte au moins à la Commune. Elle est l’opposition ancestrale du Paris ouvrier et immigré, et du Paris bourgeois, plus le quartier latin. Thiers est à l’ouest, le mur des Fédérés est à l’est.
A gauche, on sait l’histoire de la «bande» du 18e (Jospin, Vaillant, Delanoë et Estier, archétype de l’éléphant, longtemps chef du groupe socialiste au Sénat), on peut voir d’autres importants apparatchiks (Bloche, Le Guen, Cambadélis) choisir la commodité d’une implantation en ville. Paris est aussi, aujourd’hui, un point de force des Verts.

Eigth episode: Paris. We all have anecdotes of Paris’s politics. Pif’s is Goasguen coming accross a homeless beggard, saying: “I would be ashamed if I were him”. Mine is a caricature by Cabu, in 1993: “Mitterrand — Worse Than Alone: Alone With Georges Sarre”.
All is known of the recent political history of Paris, to be read as a memorial of Chiracism, i.e, at the meeting point of died-in Gaullism (Bénouville, Jean de Gaulle), of Corsican maffia (Tibéri, Dominati, Cabana), and of brazen catch-all (from Benoîte Taffin, Chinaud, Taittinger and Goasguen’s anti-tax hardcore liberalism, to Devaquet and maybe Borloo’s “humanism”), via friends to host (Balladur, Juppé, and soon Colonna and Lamour). More interesting is the charasterical east/west geopolitics. Though it was concealed for a while by the right’s “Great Chelems” (and ballot-box stuffing), it may be at least as old as the Commune. It is the ancient opposition of working, immigrant Paris; and the bourgeois Paris plus Latine Quarter. Thiers is West, the Federates’ Wall is East.
On the left, we know the history of the 18th District’s “Gang” (Jospin, Vaillant, Delanoë and Estier, the archetype of the “éléphant”, a longtime boss of the Socialists’ Senate fraction), and can also see important apparatchiks (Bloche, Le Guen, Cambadélis) choose the ease of a constituency downtown. Paris is also, today, a stronghold of the Greens.
