«Scegli socialista… il resto è un’ altra storia»
Episode 4, réclamé-attendu comme la résurrection de Jack Bauer et accueilli sous les vivats de la foule en délire: les fils (maudits) de Bettino.
Comme les autres grandes formations qui ont dominé la vie politique italienne sous la Ière République (PCI, «Pentapartito»), le PSI s’est enfoncé dans la corruption et la dilution idéologique, balotté de droite et de gauche par son opportunisme. A cela se surajoute l’éternelle question du choix entre marxisme et social-démocratie (selon les époques, les socdém ont été dans le partis où en dehors, sous l’étiquette PSDI). Je ne dis rien sur les coalitions électorales (temporaires) de partis, comme Unita Socialista, mais sachez tout de même que c’est un beau bordel floral.
En effet, la même confusion se retrouve dans l’emploi des logos, mélangés, combinés, surimposés (comme chez la DC, on y reviendra) selon les époques. Si le renoncement du PSI «historique» au socialisme scientifique est signé par l’abandon de l’emblème du livre (repris ensuite par les travailliste) et, bien sûr, de la faucille et du marteau et le choix de l’oeillet — lequel reste en Italie la fleur équivalente du mot, pas de l’idéologie, «socialiste» jusqu’à aujourd’hui –, le courant PSDI est pour sa part resté fidèle aux lendemains qui chantent de son soleil levant. Noter aussi que tout le monde fait saïli-staïlo je suis au Parti socialiste européen donc je porte sa rose (moche).

Like other groups that dominated the Italian political life under the 1st Republic (PCI, «Pentapartito»), PSI sank into corruption and ideological dilution, bobbed about, left and right, by mere opportunism. To that the eternal question of choice between marxism and social-democracy (depending on the time, the soc-dem were inside or outside the party, under the PSDI label) adds up. I don’t talk about temporary electoral coalitions, like Unita Socialista, but you should know it’s a wicked flower mess.
Indeed, the same confusion can be traced back into the use of logos, mixed, combinated, watermarked (like for the DC, we’ll come back to this one), depending of the era. If the renouncement by the “historical” PSI to scientific socialism is signified by giving up the book emblem (hence taken as their own by labourists), and, of course, the sickle-and-hammer, to the benefit of the carnation — which in Italy remains the flower equivalent to the word, not the ideology, “socialist” — PSDI for them have remain faitfully to glorious tomorrows and rising suns. Also note that eveybody says, like, “I’m a member of the European Socialist Party”, and uses its (ugly) rose.
