Alors bien sûr, tout le monde se gausse, tout le monde dit «les centristes, c’est comme les maoïstes. A un ils forment un parti, à deux deux courants, à trois un schisme». Mais en Italie, plus loin du centre, des mutations et des éclatements hénaurmes se sont aussi produits. Troisième épisode de la saison politique: qu’est le PCI devenu?

Bon, pour être honnête, c’est quand même plus simple que la DC. En gros, après la Chute du Mur de Berlin®#, le PCI s’est fait harakiri pour devenir, comme en Europe centrale, le principal parti socdém, membre du PSE et de l’Internationale socialiste. Noter ce qui est au pied de l’arbre: d’abord la filiation au PCI, puis l’appartenance au PSE. Ce PDS a même admis des mouvements centristes vraiment mous en 1998, d’où son rebaptême en Démocrates de gauche. (même «Parti» c’était trop de gauche comme mot). Comme en Europe centrale, une tendance «maintenue», Refondation (PRC), est sorti des cendres du Parti historique. Mais comme c’est l’Italie où rien ne vaut 1- un logo et 2- un portefeuille ministériel, le PRC a connu dans les années 90 deux scissions de ses membres désireux de gouverner avec les socialistes et les prodistes.

Cela étant, à leur honneur, il faut dire que leurs logos sont toujours resté classe, *eux* (Comme l’apprend Wikipedia, Refondation a refait plein de fois son logo pour des raisons de droit à la marque, puis pour éviter la confusion sur les bulletins de vote avec le Parti des communistes italiens). Et puis ils ont eu l’idée du Chronotron (je crois que c’était le nom du chronomètre inverse qui attendait l’an 2000 et s’est finalement échoué à la Bastille) anti-Berlusconi.

OK, to be honest, it is easier than for the DC. Roughly speaking, after the Fall of the Berlin Wall®#, PCI committed hara-kiri to become, like in central Europe, the main soc-dem party, a member of the PES and the Socialist International. Notice the change of what is at the foot of the tree: first the filiation with PCI, then the membership to PES. This PDS even admitted *really* soft centrists in 1998, hence the rebranding as Left Democrats (even “party” was too left-wing). Like in central Europe, an “upheld” trend, Refoundation (PRC), has come out of the historical Party’s ashes. But this being Italy, where nothing’s worth 1- a logo and 2- a Cabinet job, the PRC experienced two splits during the 1990’s of members willing to govern with the socialists and the Prodites.

However, and to their credit, *their* logos have always been classy (As one learns on Wikipedia, Refoundation has redone their logo several times for trademarks reasons and then to avoid confusion with the Party of the Italian Communists on voting ballots). Also, they’ve had the idea of the anti-Berlusconi Chronotron (or was that the name of the countdown machine waiting for Y2K that ended up at Bastille?)
