Hier, pour f\u00eater l’arriv\u00e9e de l’internet chez moi, j’ai mat\u00e9 les discours<\/a> lensois des candidats \u00e0 l’investiture socialiste pour la pr\u00e9sidentielle. Au plan rh\u00e9torique, il est assez net que Fabius et Lang ont le plus de m\u00e9tier et de feu, peut-\u00eatre parce qu’ils ont le mieux observ\u00e9 le ma\u00eetre (cf. le coude pos\u00e9 sur le pupitre, le ton de confidence, normalement suivi d’une envol\u00e9e n\u00e9o-marxiste) — le premier \u00e9tant, comme l’a relev\u00e9 la presse, sur une touche personnelle assez forte: comment ne pas \u00eatre \u00e9mu par une citation r\u00e9ussie de Jaur\u00e8s, par l’\u00e9vocation des belles causes du socialisme et de la France \u00abqui m\u00e9ritent qu’on y consacre sa vie\u00bb, l\u00e0 o\u00f9 les autres \u00e9num\u00e8rent platement \u00abJaur\u00e8s-Blum-Mitterrand-Jospin\u00bb? La prestation est aussi celle qui cite le mieux, le plus intelligemment et \u00e9l\u00e9gamment, les concurrents \u00e0 l’investiture. <\/p>\n

Lang donne une bonne prestation, mais est-il le plus cr\u00e9dible pour parler, d’ailleurs bien, de la mis\u00e8re populaire, des \u00abfins de mois qui tombent le 15\u00bb? Jospin, Strauss-Kahn, Aubry: par ordre d\u00e9croissant de vision d’ensemble et de projection d’id\u00e9es, des discours peu agr\u00e9ables dans un langage de techno sans empathie. Je reste assez d\u00e9\u00e7u par DSK, plus punchy et marquant que \u00e7a habituellement. Reste S\u00e9gol\u00e8ne Royal: pour l’essentiel, la regarder laisse une sensation inconfortable de spectateur de grand oral de l’ENA, avec les clich\u00e9s et les id\u00e9es convenues et approximatives; sauf (la presse l’avait dit, et c’est r\u00e9el et frappant) une vraie \u00e9loquence et un vrai souffle de gauche dans le morceau (test\u00e9 chez Montebourg et ailleurs) sur le d\u00e9sarroi et la tentation du repli x\u00e9nophobe de ceux qui ne peuvent se projeter, et leur famille, dans l’avenir (peu bien s\u00fbr est dit sur les solutions de gauche \u00e0 la vraie question). Pas l’humilit\u00e9 montr\u00e9e par Fabius. Et un peu court pour une pr\u00e9sidente.

\nYesterday, to celebrate the coming of the Internet to my place, I watched the speeches<\/a> in Lens of the candidates in the Socialist primary. Rhethorically, it’s pretty clear that Fabius and Lang are the most experienced and inflamed, maybe because they observed the Master most closely (an elbow on the pulpit, the tone of confidence, normally followed by a neo-Marxist soaring) — Fabius adding, as noted by the media, quite a strong personal touch: how not to be moved by a successful quotation of Jaur\u00e8s, evoaking the beautiful pleas for France and Socialism \u00ab\u00a0worth devoting one’s life\u00a0\u00bb, where the others flattly quote \u00ab\u00a0Jaur\u00e8s-Blum-Mitterrand-Jospin\u00a0\u00bb? The intervention also quotes best, most smartly and elegantly, the competitors in the primary.<\/p>\n

Lang gives a good bite, but is he most credible to talk, however well, of underclass misery, of \u00ab\u00a0months ends on the 15th\u00a0\u00bb? Jospin, Strauss-Kahn, Aubry: is reverse order of global vision and ideas projection, rather unpleasant moments of unempathical techno-speak. I remain quite desappointed by DSK, normally more vigorous and striking than that. Then there is S\u00e9gol\u00e8ne Royal: most generally, watching her leaves you with the uncomfortable feeling of the audience of ENA’s \u00ab\u00a0grand oral\u00a0\u00bb, with the clich\u00e9s and easy, blurry thinking. Except (so said the press, and it’s true and striking), her true eloquence and left-wing impetus in her bite (already tested at Montebourg’s Rose Party and elsewhere) on the disarray and temptation of xenophobic withdrawal of those unable to throw themselves in the future (little is said, of course, of left-wing solutions to this apt question). Not the humility displayed by Fabius. And a tad short for a President. <\/p>\n

C’est jeudi, c’est Sarkozy. Deuxi\u00e8me volet de la s\u00e9rie de Freedonia, l’infographie de l’esprit de mai<\/i>, sur les \u00e9lections de l’an prochain: Midi-Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es. OK, PrinceParano et Luc n’ont rien demand\u00e9 mais j’ai r\u00e9pondu \u00e0 ses d\u00e9sirs secrets. Et puis, l\u00e0 encore, c’est int\u00e9ressant de voir l’\u00e9rosion de l’UDF dans un de ses fiefs (celui des Baudis), de m\u00eame \u00e0 vrai dire que celle du radicalisme-cassoulet. Le PRG a perdu un conseil g\u00e9n\u00e9ral (le Lot) au profit du PS, et plus souffert des revers de la gauche (1993, 2002), m\u00eame s’il a pris la seule circonscription gagn\u00e9e<\/i> dans la r\u00e9gion par la gauche dans sa d\u00e9faite de 2002: l’ex-implantation de Douste, qui en Hautes-Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es comme feu le comte de Paris dans sa famille, ne leur laissera que de la haine. <\/p>\n

La r\u00e9gion de Jaur\u00e8s (Quil\u00e8s est son lointain successeur dans la 1\u00e8re du Tarn: Carmaux), de Jospin, et de la \u00abD\u00e9p\u00eache\u00bb reste le<\/i> point d’ancrage du \u00abMidi rose\u00bb A cet \u00e9gard, il faut noter que les Verts (G. Onesta est leur \u00abstar\u00bb locale) ne se sont pas entendus avec la gauche PC-PS-PRG pour le second tour des r\u00e9gionales, si bien qu’ils n’ont pas d’\u00e9lu \u00e0 cet \u00e9chelon malgr\u00e9 d’assez bons scores. Comme dans l’ensemble de son histoire r\u00e9publicaine, Midi-Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es n’enregistre donc qu’avec un temps de retard les innovations politiques, y compris l’\u00e9mergence des Verts.

The Left Radicals Party (PRG) has lost one departement council (Lot) to the benefit of the Socialists, and has suffered more severely of the left’s downturns (1993, 2002), though it scored the only gain of the left in the region in its ’02 General Election defeat: Douste-Blazy’s ex-constituency, for he will leave in Haute-Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es, just like the late Count of Paris in his family, \u00ab\u00a0only hatred after himself\u00a0\u00bb. <\/p>\n

The region of Jaur\u00e8s (Quil\u00e8s comes as a remote follower in Tarn-1 constituency: Carmaux), Jospin, and the newspaper, the \u00ab\u00a0Dispatch\u00a0\u00bb, remains the<\/i> anchor point in the \u00ab\u00a0pink south\u00a0\u00bb. On this should be noted that the Greens (the MEP G. Onesta is their local \u00ab\u00a0star\u00a0\u00bb) did not merge with the Socialists-Communists-Radicals left in the regional election, so that they get no seat at this level in spite of a rather good show.
