A Chypre aussi, c’\u00e9tait les \u00e9lections (\u00e0 la proportionnelle par circonscription). En tout cas, pour les 56 si\u00e8ges attribu\u00e9s dans la constitution chypriote au sud de l’\u00eele (ce qui d\u00e9compte \u00e0 la fois le nord et les 3 si\u00e8ges r\u00e9serv\u00e9s \u00e0 autant de repr\u00e9sentants de confessions chr\u00e9tiennes: catholique, maronite, arm\u00e9nien). A la Bouli, les 24 si\u00e8ges pr\u00e9vus pour le nord demeurent vides, c’est beau comme du Beckett. <\/p>\n

Pas de gros changement, la coalition qu’on pourrait qualifier d’arc-en-ciel (rouge-rose-vert-cyan-bleu, ou quelque chose comme \u00e7a), domin\u00e9e par les post-communistes de l’AKEL, reste en fonction. Elle rassemble le parti anti-r\u00e9unification, la DiKo (parti centriste du pr\u00e9sident Papadopoulos) et une vari\u00e9t\u00e9 de formations pro-plan Annan. La seule opposition est celle des conservateurs de la DiSy de l’ancien pr\u00e9sident Klerides. (pro-reunification). <\/p>\n

C\u00f4t\u00e9 onomastique, tout le monde ou presque est d\u00e9mocrate, quand bien m\u00eame, \u00e0 Chypre, la politique reste essentiellement patriarchale et donc familiale (faire \u00e9lire sa soeur, sa ni\u00e8ce, etc.). Sur le front des logos, les vieux embl\u00e8mes des ann\u00e9es 70 ou d’avant persistent (pas pour les soc-d\u00e9m qui ont abandonn\u00e9 leur poing<\/a> tr\u00e8s old-style, ni les centristes, \u00e9videmment), inspir\u00e9s selon les cas de l’URSS et de la Gr\u00e8ce: l’embl\u00e8me \u00e0 la flamme de la DiKo rappelle celui de la Nouvelle D\u00e9mocratie de Caramanlis. C’est joli et efficace, comme les bijoux de Mgr Makarios.

\nIn Cyprus too, this was election time (proportional voting in districts). At least, for the 56 seats attributed by the Cypriot constitution to the South (which takes out the North and the 3 seats reserved for so many representatives of Christian denominations: RC, Maronite, Armenian). In the Bouli, the 24 seats provided for the North remain empty — it’s beautiful like Beckett. <\/p>\n

No big change, the coalition one could call \u00ab\u00a0rainbow\u00a0\u00bb (red-pink-green-cyan-blue, or something like that), dominated by the post-Communists of AKEL, remains in office. It groups the anti-reunification party, the DiKo (President Papadopoulos’ centrist party) and a range of pro-Annan Plan groupings. The only opposition is that of the Conservatives’ DiSy of former President Klerides (pro-reunification). <\/p>\n

On the naming side, almost everybody is democratic, although politics in Cyprus remains essentially a patriarchal and therefore familial matter (have your sister, your niece elected, etc.). On the logotype front, old emblems of the 70’s or before linger (not for the Social-Democrats, who dropped their old-stylish fist<\/a>, nor for the Centrists of course), inspired here or there by the USSR or Greece: the DiKo’s torch reminds of Caramanlis’ New Democracy’s torch. Nice and effective, like Makarios’ jewelry. <\/p>\n
